INTERESTING TID-BITS

  • The customer is NEVER right

  • People drive and park on the sidewalk
  • It is no big deal to pass someone when there is a solid line - even tho its illegal
  • The traffic lights go from green to blinking green to yellow to red to yellow to green
  • For the most part, people do not know how to drive an automatic - have no idea how to start it or get it going
  • The police don't chase you like they would in the states
  • Sarajevo is the place where Franz Ferdinand was shot, which in turn started WWI
  • The 1986 Winter Olympics were held in Sarajevo
  • All the buildings are cement
  • When you flush the toilets the water just goes down (not rise then down)
  • Have washers, not dryers (takes up too much energy)
  • There are several buildings that have holes in the side of them or small chunks missing - that is from the war here not too long ago
  • There are spots on the sidewalks called 'Sarajevo Roses' and they are from hand grenades and mark where some people have died during the war
  • The tram in Sarajevo was the first tram in all of Europe
  • The high schools here are like trade schools

did you write the list or find it? It's a great list and if you wrote it congrads on some great observations! It will be interesting to see what you find to be 'odd' here in the states once you get back!

Nice. Sounds a lot like here, except we have Burger King, Subway, Carl's Jr. and KFC. The problem is that service is really slow and it's very expensive - not really fast food!

Yeah, I wrote the list... there are lots more things I've noticed, but when I sat down to make the list this was all I could think of at the time. I'm sure more things will come to me =)
