weekend

FRIDAY
. .So I was sick. First of all I HATE being sick... and second of all I hate being sick so far from home. I'm so thankful that this only lasted a little over 24 hours, because by Friday early afternoon / early evening I was starting to feel better. In fact, good enough to go out to coffee with Petula and Allix and Enisa and Mirela. It was pretty good (even though I wasn't "all there" I had a good time).
. .Oh, also on Friday I found a card from my mom that she hid in my suitcases!!! The sad thing is she actually had to ask me if I found the note, and when I said "no" she asked if I had read all my books yet. I pulled out one of my books and there it was tucked inside the pages... a card from my mom and a picture of my parents. It helped lift my spirits.

SATURDAY
. .We spent all afternoon making "American foods" like chocolate chip cookies and brownies and banana bread and spinach dip in a bread bowl... Yummy!!! We dipped into Petula's missionary stash for some of the ingredients.
. .(For example Allix and I tried to make chocolate chip cookies the other day, only we couldn't find brown sugar so we just used double regular sugar, couldn't find vanilla so we just didn't use it, and couldn't find chocolate chips so we bought a candy bar and broke it into chunks. Oh, and we don't have any measuring things in our kitchen so we just guessed. It was interesting...)
. .This night was the first 'meeting' of the Young Women's Fellowship. Basically it is a chance for single women to get together with others who are going through some of the same things, as well as a time for us to all see each other and hang out. When Petula mentioned that Allix and I were going to make them chocolate chip cookies they started requesting other American dishes (Mirela wanted banana bread and Enisa asked for brownies).
. .The group went really well. There was I think 13 of us total and it started just us hanging out and eating and talking... people either reconnecting with old friends or getting to know new ones better. Then Petula got up and kind of talked about what the group is for and how she wants to have it once a month because it is important for us as young single women to fellowship with one another. She passed out pink index cards and we all wrote our names and prayer requests on it, put them in a basket, and on the way out drew a card and now we're each praying for that card/person for the next month. It is a really good idea (I have actually been doing something like this with my high school girls every week). Then we had a time of prayer. And then it was movie time! Enisa brought a projector and we watched My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Apparently almost everything in there is "so Bosnian!" I love that movie, and it was interesting/fun watching it with these girls because of the fact that they could relate to several things.
. .After the movie I left with Allix, Vedrana, Jelena, and Jessica and we started walking to the tram to head home. Turns out we ended up waiting for about a half hour (long enough for Sara and Lina to meet up with us) and watched 3 trams go flying by us. After the third one we decided that we would start walking, because obviously the trams had stopped running for the night. We walked several blocks and stopped at a bus stop and waited about 15-20 minutes for a bus until we figured the buses probably stopped running too. So we took off walking again. BTW the walk is a couple miles and took us a few hours. Let's just say we walked off all those sweets we had earlier that evening...

SUNDAY
. .We got up this morning and went out to IlidΕΎa for church service. It was pretty good. Afterwards I was playing with the pastor's daughter, Mia - she is so flippin adorable!!! No joke, I want to like take her home with me. We went to Mark and Kathy's for lunch (baked chicken, rice, broccoli, salad, bread... pudding for dessert). Then the rest of the afternoon we just chilled and relaxed.
. .However, I did start playing with Bobo's Bot-It... determined to beat his high score. And I did. His high score was 160 and I got 188 (YYAAAAYYYYY!!!! I was happy). Although later this evening I got a phone call and found out that Bobo had beat my high score (he was determined too) and his is like 250 or something like that. The war is on now =)
. .We went to Malta service tonight (our church here in Sarajevo). After service Allix and I went out to coffee with Sara, Miki, and Boro. I had a good time just hanging out and talking with everyone.

** All in all I had a good weekend **
